Nothing to do with killing bugs, but everything to do with attitudes, values, morals and ethics.
Being semi-retired allows me the luxury of reading and I read widely and deeply both books and blogs. On the latter end of my reading I subscribe and often contribute to a blog called “Mindful Money”. It's an English based site and in my opinion has been designed for us – the shrinking, thinking class, dealing with all aspects of finance and the global economy in general. I also follow movements on stock markets, gold prices and commodity movements.
I read all the correspondent reports and occasionally contribute; the whole site has opened up a plethora of new vistas for me but at the same time has made me think deeply and to refine my questions down to two, one main and a supplementary.
As the average bureaucrat, politician, world leader or any of those who have authority to “lead and guide” us is completely unaware and ignorant of people, my view now is that they have as much regard for the average individual as a single termite in the colony. Thus, my primary question:
Who is behind the wild gyrations everywhere I see daily, and what is their motive?
Some play the “blame-game” – politicians, bankers, speculators, the Americans, the Chinese… the list goes on. Even though I dislike this approach as I find it a sterile “game” I note they always omit one group – people and their greed. Who is making me feel like a puppet or a hamster running in its treadmill ever faster just to stay in the same place? In my case it is not a question of feeling unempowered, but DISempowered.
Which leads me to my supplementary question:
If we knew who was behind such wildness, such crazy stupidity, and understood their motives, how many would wish to join them – or would the reaction be “kill the bastards”?
I leave you to think these questions through….
Until next time (and still deep in thought),
Peripatetic Scribe.
"Kill the bastards" is not cruel enough, but do to them what they have been doing to others is perhaps more appropriate!
ReplyDeleteLucana - an interesting view. I am delighted you did not say "join them". I hope I shall not see any such comment as I would certainly begin to wonder about that individual.
