Probably, we are all quite familiar with what
is called ‘lifelong learning’ – learning to ensure we are a better student (so
we can maximise our returns later in life); learning to ensure we can be a more
effective employee (for the same reason); learning to be a better boss (so we
can help others move towards their learning goals); learning to be a better
husband/wife (so we may enjoy a long and successful marriage); learning to
become a useful (ageing) member of society (so that our brains may continue to
serve us well, far into old age)…
I am 100% in favour of this approach to life
and living in general – and maybe I should add one more piece of learning – to
be a valuable member of a global society irrespective of our background, nationality
or beliefs.
90,000 years ago, a group of humans living in Africa decided to go for a walk… the rest is history!
However at the risk of adding a slightly
negative footnote, may I suggest
“I was taught that the
human brain was the crowning glory
of evolution so far. I
think it’s a very poor scheme for survival”
As I write this on my 71st
anniversary of “being”, those words from Kurt Vonnegut certainly make me think
more deeply about myself, others, and where we are all going (and why)…
Until next time (and thinking deeply),

A great post, PS. I particularly enjoy the fact you are able to say so much with so little - leaving us to fill in the gaps as we wish. This is something I try to teach at school. Thank you - and happy birthday!

Mark - thank you for your comments and wishes. I am pleased you enjoy "filling in the blanks", that's one reason I write as I do, and yes, certainly carry on the good work!
