MICROSCOPIC

It’s strange how sometimes the most unusual happening can lead to an idea. As I am writing this, there seems to be a speck (what I thought was dust) on my screen. The page started so clean and white - rather like the blank canvas of an artist – but then it took on the quality of its own, and I wondered whether I was responsible for it or even, perhaps, whether it had a life of its own.

Well, yes, it had life; it was certainly moving, but randomly, and I could see no point in its journeying across my word document and I had no reason to stop its perambulations…. until I got to this point…

Carefully, with the point of a pencil, I removed it from its electronic tracery and placed it on an old piece of wood, and this is what I managed to photograph (it’s about 3 or 4 times life-size). Pretty little creature, don’t you think?

How it came to be on my computer, I cannot imagine, but I have left it outside my window to continue living its life…

What a shame that so many humans want to destroy life for the least possible reason…

Until next time (and manoeuvring through life),

  1. Brilliant macro photograph, P.S. and a very clever "sting in the tail"... I share your sentiments completely.

  2. A splendid post, P.S. and I too liked the "sting in the tail"...a most unusual piece of writing to go with such an ending -very effective!

  3. James, thanks for your comments. The photo was difficult but I think I have done the little devil justice!

  4. Mark thanks for the comment. I think the "sting in the tail" is the most important part of the "story" - and sadly so true!

  6. Lucana, thank you for your kind remarks. As you probably can see I am totally hooked on photography, especially macro - maybe I shall use more in later blog posts.
