150 Days

FREEDOM!!!

The average English worker is free to spend his own money after 150 days. Now this may sound crazy, but it's true. After 150 days working for the taxman I get to keep what I earn after that – he takes about 42% of my income! However, as time passes, and the government of this septic isle gets greedier, the “Tax Freedom Day” gets later in the year; for 2013, it is the latest for 7 years – that shows how much more tax we are required to pay. In addition, that means we “small people” are picking up the tab for government spending, so being squeezed in two ways – as I have shown above, and through having less to spend on ourselves.

Where’s the justice?

But I suppose we should be thankful; in France this “Tax Freedom Day” doesn’t arrive until July (another 2 months as I write this), but for workers in America and Australia it can arrive as early as mid-April.

This shows me the shocking truth about taxation and government over-spending, and I think that if politicians are serious about the prosperity of citizens, they should sit up and take note. But of course they won’t as they are not politicians if they think about us, and anyone who does concern him or herself with the well-being of us wouldn’t even think of becoming a politician in the first place!

What is the situation in your country?

Until next time (and living – just),

  1. A totally new concept for me, P.S. and I shall have to think over what you write. I shall also consult my colleagues but I am pretty certain out "Tay Freedom Day" will be nearer to Australia than you! Fascinating stuff! Thank you
