VIEWPOINT 10

This viewpoint is short; it may offend some of you, it may have a ring of truth to many more. Whatever your view, I don't think you will be able to remain neutral.....

HOW TO DESTROY A NATION

I see signs of “cynical immorality”. What a strange species we are; many amongst us spend hours and money on a couch searching for a “soul”. We have too many “things”. We can and do withstand everything that God and Nature can throw at us – except for one thing.

If I wanted to destroy a nation, I would give it too much of everything and I would have it on its knees, miserable, sick and greedy.

It would be on its knees and sick because the will to live had been taken away. When you have all of everything, what is there left to live for? Where is the motivation, the impetus and spirit to progress? Gone. Dead.

It is in the nature of man to strive – without this he is zombie-esque.

Greed kills.

Until next time,

  1. Very different, very valid comments. I think this is excellent material for our school debating society and as you know well, they tremendously enjoy such material. Very many thanks from us all,

  2. Hi Mark and thanks for your comment. As I said, this is one of those comments to which you cannot be neutral. As a piece for your school debating society, I think it will create many, many points of view, some deep, some superficial. But the fact remains, it WILL get reaction!

  4. Interesting comment, Hans! Actually I would not "point my finger" at any nation; I merely wished to show the negativities that certain lifestyles may bring to those who favour hedonism over work.....

  5. I absolutely agree with you, P.S. Sadly, there will not be many nations left unless radical changes in lifestyle are implemented as soon as possible (which I sincerely doubt).
    Thank you.

  6. Thanks, Lucana. I think that slowly people are realising that "chasing a dream" is just that - chasing a mirage, in fact.
