Now, in my
“sunset years” I can look back and say in all honesty, I have lived according
to the title of this article.
This is an
unusual piece since in the past I have used either music or pictures but never
tried both together – so now is the time! So, if you’re in the mood for some
wonderful music from a young Spanish composer, hit this link – you won’t be
disappointed and I suggest you read this and play the music at the same time:
And if I may continue my theme of “my sunset years” here’s the picture (and a few words from
me) of my “new chapter in the book of life”.
And yes, that is
my small boat you can see anchored in a very peaceful and tranquil setting.
The title and
the music (of the same name) means “forever onwards”
which I think is very appropriate even in these tough times. And even the
picture sends a subliminal message – although the sun is setting, it will rise
again tomorrow for a fresh new day full of possibilities to show what we are
made of, and to do something that will be constant in the minds of others. You
will be aware from past blogs I enjoy quotations many of which come from Africa , and here is one that continues the theme of this
blog:
“seek not to have more; seek to BE more”
Tough times
don’t last, even though at times it feels as if they do; it is the tough people
that last and that is something I encourage everyone to be.
So with the
music soothing your ears and the picture soothing your eyes, I wish you success
– SIEMPRE ADELANTE!
Until next time

(I am off to hospital from this weekend, so as it is
my summertime, I shall start writing again at the beginning of September. Have
an enjoyable summer – or winter, for you Mark in NZ).

My good friend, I wish you every success over this period as I can imagine it must be a difficult time for you. Thank you not just for your kind comment on this blog but for all the help and encouragement you have given me, my colleagues and our children over this period. I know all will turn out well for you. We all send our best wishes and look forward with anticipation for more thinking stuff in September. Good luck and good wishes,
ReplyDeleteMark in NZ
From Ankara - thank you for your help with my English. I will miss reading you over the summer but hope you will come back in very good health with many more super articles.
ReplyDeleteP.S - a glorious article full of hope and anticipation of a new beginning. I wish you all success and will see you in the very near future - just down the river!
ReplyDeleteJames from Totnes
Each time I read your blog I am so happy to read great words. This one is great - the music (for me) is super (and I shall download it), the words are your usual high quality and the picture great. All success over the summer - I shall read you more in the future.
ReplyDeleteAxel, Bremen
Another west countryman adding his thanks and best wishes. Another great blog P.S. please, many more from September on!
ReplyDeleteRichard_Truro
Mark, thank you kindly for your generous remarks. I hope my small efforts have been useful to all concerned. I shall indeed be "fighting fit" by September, so prepare yourselves for more!
ReplyDeleteHi, Ankara and thank you. I shall look forward to hearing more from you in September. I hope you also have an excellent summer - but not too hot!
ReplyDeleteJames, thank you. Yes we will meet quite soon both on the river and in the pub! See you sailing.
ReplyDeleteAxel, you are very kind. I hope that from September there will be more interesting stuff from me much of which will be based on what has happened over the summer period. Keep reading.
ReplyDeleteRichard - OK you're not too far from James and I. Try to make it to our area and make it a west country "event". Will write again.
ReplyDeleteP.S. wonderful. Thank you for your contributions to me they have been insightful and helpful. I look forward to renewing our discussions in September. Good luck and all my very best wishes,
ReplyDeleteCharles_Atlanta
Charles - thank you for your comments. It's good to know my contributions have helped and I too look forward to more discussions on similar topics!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful multi-sensory blog, appealing to the ear (beautiful music), to the eye (an amazing photo), to the mind (sharp reasoning) and to the heart (warm words). That's why the impressions are so powerful and vivid. I wish you all the best and will miss you and your blogs greatly, but, as you say, you are heading for a new beginning. Departures and changes are double edged-swords, but we must focus on positive outcomes and we will attract positive solutions, so they say. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and be looking forward to September. Thank you
ReplyDeleteLucana
Lucana thank you for your kind words. I am pleased you like the music as it IS different and the photograph took many days to get the sun and shadows as I wanted them. The words? Well, I try my best but often when I look back I see I could have said things in a different way. But, don't look back. Yes, it's a new road for me and I am looking forward to walking it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words and music - thank you for introducing a great Spanish composer to the wider world! I shall read more from you later in the year.
ReplyDeleteFrom Xavier_Madrid
Xavier - thank you for your words. Carlos Saura is VERY talented and his music deserves to be heard by a wide audience. Please do keep reading as I am sure you will find many articles of great interest to you and your friends.
ReplyDeleteFrom Manila again. A super article full of hope and optimism. I hope we can all live up to SIEMPRE ADELANTE. We must try. I shall read more of you later in the year. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteManila I thank you for your great words. I hope that after all my "problems" have been overcome I shall indeed be moving forwards. I feel it is important for myself and for others NOT to sink into despair as this does nothing for anyone.
