STARS AND MUD

I have a good friend who, in his more cynical moments, suggests the following as his view of life:

“we come into this world naked, wet and hungry:
And it’s all downhill from there on”

I hold a different view for most of the time:

“We come into this world naked, wet and hungry;
But we are a blank page on which we write our story”

Many of you may well have heard the saying that mankind has its eyes on the stars and its feet in the mud. This is usually taken to mean that man’s superior reasoning and senses are those aspects that pull him down into the mud, whilst his “super-rational” emotions are those that lift him to the stars.

I cannot agree….

In my view, and considering what I have written above, it is the irrational emotions of mankind that drag him down into the mud; it his marvellous ability of reasoning that lifts him to the stars.

I leave you to consider….per ardua ad astra perhaps?

Until next time (and being reasonable),
