As regular readers will know, one of my favourite phrases is “the shrinking, thinking class”; I firmly believe this to be the case, based upon my observations of a great many people in various parts of this glorious planet we have been given. Some may argue that my thinking is a condition of advancing years or an intolerance of those I perceive to have a lower level of education. I think not.
Millennia of evolution have brought us to the state where we are “hot-wired” to advance physically and mentally. Of course, there are those amongst us who have no desire to advance and you will probably recall my ‘blind squirrel syndrome’ from my 25 January post. So many now are ‘satisfied’ (whatever that means) to find their “one nut of happiness”, wrap it in cotton wool and try to make it last indefinitely! They build a cocoon of isolation around themselves, never looking beyond their own “square-headed” environment. Perhaps it’s a safety-valve but personally I am sure it impedes growth. These are the “mental pygmies” – and they are on the increase since our current systems and structures allow our “rulers” to deal with them in a satisfactory manner (satisfactory to both sides).
We, the shrinking, thinking class are outnumbered BUT we have one huge plus on our side - we can and do THINK – and that is something that nobody, but nobody, can take away from us. EVER! Be curious, and ask questions.
Let us revel in our positiveness, use it in the most beneficial way and leave the mental pygmies to “chew their nut”…..
